Process Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

Support, design, develop, test, and implement solutions for managing electronic assembly processes including human work factors, quality control, material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.  Design work cells to maximize through put.  Coordinate with vendors on component/part quality issues and process improvements to reduce waste and improve performance.  Coordinate with Production Manager and team leads to produce documentation, solve day-to-day issues, and implement permanent solutions that improve productivity, reduce waste, and drive high quality.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate equipment, tooling, material handling, and technologies to remove waste and improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Knowledge and experience using Lean Manufacturing, Value Stream Maps, Six Sigma tools and other methodologies to identify root cause and determine long term solutions
  • Experience working with suppliers and supplier quality issues to create resolution
  • Utilize statistical controls to monitor manufacturing processes
  • Evaluate and influence new product designs for manufacturability
  • Implement product and process improvement/cost reduction initiatives, demonstrating ROI, documenting improvements
  • Select and qualify equipment and machinery, tooling, and technologies for manufacturing
  • Experience with printed circuit board assembly
  • Perform and or assist with customer and ISO/IATF audits, maintain accurate documentation
  • Experience leading small teams in a culture of accountability
  • Demonstrated track record of using sound judgment to meet the needs of the customer while satisfying business objectives
  • Lead and support safety initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed to support
  • Some travel may be required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment
  • Experience diagnosing process flow issues and implementing solutions
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office and CAD applications
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal including ability to prepare, present and discuss project- related plans, requirements, and test results in a team-based work environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with high volume Potting (Epoxy/Urethane) pouring processes and equipment
  • Experience with wire termination and processing
  • Utilization of various microcontrollers and single board computer platforms
  • Mechatronic design and implementation

Operations Team Leader

Job Summary

The Operations Team Leader is primarily responsible for overseeing daily operations on the production floor in a light assembly manufacturing environment. This role ensures safety, quality, efficiency, and team productivity while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. In addition, this role supports the activities of the production line, including overseeing workflow, labor assignments, and ensuring schedules are executed. The Team Leader supports scheduling by assuring production drawings are accurate and can be produced as ordered, as well as sets up production drawing packets to be released to the production floor. The ideal candidate will lead by example, providing guidance, training, and support to team members to meet production targets and maintain a safe and organized workplace.

Essential Responsibilities and Functions

  • Supervise, support, and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the production team members; respond to the needs of the team members by ensuring parts and materials are supplied on time, absenteeism coverage plans are in place, and training/cross-training is conducted for team members
  • Coordinate the startup of the shift by communicating daily production requirements to meet production goals; monitor production schedules and adjust resources as needed to meet daily targets.
  • Operate within, uphold, and enforce safety policies within the organization; report potential safety hazards and assist in resolution
  • Establish standard work procedures and ensure team members follow the SOPs; provide instruction and follow-up on the use of the proper methods of performing work assignments.
  • Perform root cause analysis on quality issues and implement countermeasures to reduce the possibility of the issue occurring moving forward
  • Submit maintenance work orders to ensure the facility and equipment are in safe operating condition
  • Support and resolve BOM discrepancies and other inventory control activities
  • Facilitate small group activities focusing on continuous improvement activities
  • Keep production scheduled and communicate order issues
  • Identify and escalate operational issues and recommend process improvements
  • Maintain accurate records of production data, attendance, incidents, and performance metrics
  • Ensure 5S principles and lean manufacturing practices are upheld on the shop floor
  • Act as a liaison between the production team and management, fostering a culture of open communication and collaboration
  • Assist in developing and tracking KPIs for the department, focusing on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications to Succeed

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, including at least 1 year of supervisory/leadership experience
  • General mechanical ability and/or maintenance experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, safety standards, and quality control
  • Ability to obtain thorough product knowledge
